An internal dealer memo (see below) announces the sad news, quoting changes to the law for the registration of new vehicles in the Canadian market making it “no longer possible for Audi Canada to offer the 5-cylinder engine.” The note goes on to say that “Audi Canada and its dealer network can no longer market and sell the RS3 and TT RS in the Canadian market due to the inability to satisfy certain technical requirements.”
This means that those who have already ordered a five-cylinder TT or A3 won’t have their cars built. As for the technical requirements that couldn’t be met, there’s no official word but one theory is that Canada’s stringent noise pollution limits are to blame.
